The mission of the Montgomery Bar Foundation is to improve
and facilitate the administration of justice in the literary,
scientific, and charitable fields. The Foundation makes this
possible by receiving donations, gifts, bequests, and endowments
in support of humanitarian projects which are affiliated with
the administration of justice. The Foundation’s mission
also promotes studies and research in the field of law, along
with the continuing education of the legal profession and public.
It strives to publish and distribute literary works on legal
subjects, as well as acquire, preserve, and exhibit books,
documents, objects of art, and items of historical interest
having legal significance.
The Montgomery Bar Association established the Montgomery Bar
Foundation with the help of the family of late Montgomery County
Judge Milton O. Moss in 1986. Each year the Foundation honors
Judge Moss by presenting the Honorable Milton O. Moss Public
Service Award to a Montgomery County resident who has provided
exceptional service in support of the justice system. The Foundation
also honors many other individuals for their service to law
related organizations by presenting various awards throughout
the year such as the Hon. Louis D. Stefan Law Enforcement Award.
